Blade Care Instructions
Preventing Rust:
Your blade comes coated in an all natural organic wax and oil blend (0.5oz sample provided starting Jan. 2024). Occasionally apply a light coat to both the steel and handle then wipe off excess. Wax is preferred for prolonged storage and rust prevention. Always lubricate your blade before storing.
Maintaining The Handle:
Wood handles dry and crack overtime. To prevent this, I began pressure soaking the wood in “food grade” danish oil. This process deeply saturates the wood and increase’s stability. Although drying may still occur with the natural material, the wax provided will help maintain your handle.
For a G10 handle, you’re in luck. No care is needed. If the G10 starts to collect dirt, simply apply a small amount of wax or oil and buff with a towel.
When Washing Your Knife:
Use a soft cloth or nonabrasive sponge to wash your knife in a sink of warm, soapy water. Do not place the knife in the dishwasher!
Hand-Dry Your Knife:
This should be done immediately after washing with a clean towel. Make sure the blade is completely dry. Leaving your blade to air dry will cause the steel to rust.
Storage:
Store your blade in a clean/dry place to prevent rust. The knife can be stored in the Kydex sheath as long as it is clean, dry, and waxed.
Blade Discoloration:
Also known as a “patina”. This happens naturally to high carbon steel blades when used on anything acidic and is unavoidable. Embrace the patina as it does add a level of protection against rust!
